Information note for participants
CRBS will conduct a two-days Capacity Building Training for Women from 25–26 March 2025 who are interested in participating in Elections. The program will last for full two days and will be organized at Hotel Nordenma, Babesa, Thimphu. It is funded by Helvetas, Thimphu.
Objective
To provide information and basic skills to take part in democratic elections in Bhutan, be it for National Assembly, National Council or local governments (LG). Training will cover the democratic process as provided in the National Constitution and electoral laws, preparation for and participation in elections, discussion on factors impeding women’s participation in politics and contribution to discussions and decision-making processes at national and local levels.
Accommodation and food
Accommodation for 25 and 26 March has been arranged in the same hotel above on a sharing basis (twin beds) for participants from outside Thimphu based on information to be provided by the prospective participants during the time of registration in the CRBS website. The accommodation will include breakfast and dinner for two days while the lunch will be served for all during the training program. No payment will be made for expenses on consumption of alcohol, laundry and long distance telephone calls (national and international).
Transportation and other expenses
A fixed amount of Nu.5,000.00 per participants will be provided to cover expenses for return travel and accommodation in transit for participants from Gasa, Pema Gatshel, Samdrup Jongkhar, Tashigang, Tashi Yangtse, Monggar, Lhuntshi and Zhemgang. For participants from Paro, Thimphu (outside Thimphu town), Chukha, Samtse, Dagana, Tsirang, Sarpang, Trongsa, Bumthang, Haa, Punakha and Wangdiphodrang, Nu.2,500.00 per person will be given for the same purposes. Other personal expenses should be met from the honorarium of Nu.1,000.00 that will be paid to each participant.
Trainers and resource persons
Resource persons will include representatives of the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB), RENEW, NCWC Division (MoESD), former parliamentarians and other experts. Training modality will consist of lectures, online videos, cases studies, group work, mock sessions and discussions
Attendance
All participants are required to attend all the sessions during two days. A Certificate of Participation will be issued at the conclusion of the training program.
Number of participants
A maximum of 30 participants will be accepted for the training on ‘first come, first serve basis.’ So, please register fast to assure a seat. Registration will close at 5 P.M on Wednesday, 19 March 2025.
